Training Log for High School

Your mile should be decent, and I would be surprised if you don't break 5:20, unless the weather is not good.

Very good runs, a little more mileage than I would run in HS.

Hope you are off-roads as much as possible, although the weather probably complicates that.

Not much speed work yet, or I would predict a much faster mile.

Maybe 4 x 600m the next time you run such interval workouts?

Monday: 9.03 in 1:04:52

Tuesday: 5.03 in 36:27

Wednesday: 1 mile wu, 1600 tt (5:02), 4x150, 1 mile cd

Thursday: AM- 3.01 in 24:23, PM- 4.77 in 37:46 + strides

Friday: Progression run starting at 4:00 and dropping 10 seconds per 800 (4:00, 3:50, 3:40, 3:31, 3:20, 3:09, 3:01, 2:54, 2:49), 4x200, mile cooldown

Saturday: 5.03 in 40:20

Sunday: 11 mile long run (1 wu, 3 moderate, 6 easy tempo, 1 cd) 7:31, 6:49, 6:49, 6:48, 6:20, 6:15, 6:23, 6:18, 6:13, 6:12, 7:15

Monday I went further and faster then planned because a college runner who used to go to our school was in town so I ran with him. Tuesday was just premeet so I did 2 race pace 200s during my run. I was happy with how the 1600 played out because there was 18 mph winds with gusts up to 38, and the effort of a 4:50 was definitely there. Thursday I took super easy. Friday’s workout was average, I wish I would’ve done one more 800 but I didn’t want to go lactic right now. Saturday was another super easy day. Sunday was the best long run I’ve ever had. I felt super controlled running at faster paces and to be honest I feel just as fit as I was during cross country now.
