What are the best and cheapest carbon fiber alternatives to Nike shoes?

Wow, you actually got a new pair of 'The Artist'? They actually shipped, or you have some inside connections? Are you willing to provide some more detail? What is the foam? What is the shoe weight? How is the response? etc.

Also, weren't you the guy that said he was getting a pair of the new ASICS MetaSky (supposedly the finished version of the Sara Hall proto's)? Anything to report on that front?

Got them as a normal consumer. Ordered from the site and they got here Tuesday.

I did get the Skys but they don't look like they will ship until mid to late may. I also got a pair of the MagicSpeed that should ship end of April.

I'll write up more on The Artist later.

Thanks. I was gathering from other thread horror stories on Atreyu's delayed shipping (fake news?) that The Artist shipping would be months away.

So is the foam a Supecritical EVA? Have you seen Puma's version of that foam in their Deviate Nitro? It seems softer than Skechers' Hyperburst. Wonder how it compares with The Artist.

Note, to remove any confusion, Puma's Deviate Nitro is a Supercritical foam that testers are claiming to be EVA (but Puma is saying they use higher quality raw materials), whereas Puma's Deviate Nitro ELITE (not available yet) is to have a lightweight Nylon based (aka PEBA derivative, as in the Nike VaporFly, Asics Metaspeed Sky, etc.) foam.

I just got my Artists and ran in them today, too. They felt great to me. Feather light and snappy. They don't feel like they give much support, but I had no issues with slippage and actually felt like the grip on the heal was better than average for me. I'll report back after my next race and let you know if they made me faster.

Has anyone other than me posted on this thread who neither works for nor wants to plug Nike nor Atreyu?

The topic is Nike v. cheap alternative. So what else are you going to post about?

I thought I'd bump this thread. The Artist is in stock and I've been thinking of getting a carbon plate shoe. I'd use it mostly for long intervals on the track. I'm not running on the roads much anymore.

Who has tried the Atreyu Artist? How do you like it?
