Could an all-star team from the WNBA (le creme de la creme) beat the best collegiate men's team?

Absolutely. He has gone at 7'2" players his whole career. You think Dydek is anywhere near as good as a 6'10" bench warmer? Absolutely not. Not that I'm a LeBron fan but he dunked all over Tim Duncan and he's at least 1000x better than Dydek. Most of her career she played against women that were far smaller and she herself was not an athletic player even for the WNBA. She was a stiff ala Greg Ostertag but was lucky to be significantly bigger than anyone else at her position.

Who's the premier big woman today? Brittney Griner who is 6'8" and only 205 pounds. She would get thrown around playing against the top collegiate men. Reggie Miller having great respect for women since his sister is among the greats said that the top women could take a spot from a guy at the end of the bench and hold her own. That's about their limit.

I think they would be able to beat some boys High School varsity teams

They would probably be somewhere in the middle and able to beat average and weaker high school teams

No way could they beat Elite level boys high school teams or even very good high school teams

It would depend a little bit on how the games were organized as women play with a slightly smaller ball

That actually makes a difference when you spend your whole life getting used to one size ball but for all intensive purposes I think they could beat weaker boys varsity high school teams

Also basketball is a very different type of sport than running and there's a greater difference between men and women in basketball in there isn't running

Still comparing it to running doesn't really make sense

For example Katelyn Tuohy and other Elite high school girl runners can be better than a lot of boys.

You're not going to get the same thing in basketball the very best girl high school basketball players would probably only be able to make the team on the very weakest boys basketball teams.

So for comparison Katelyn Tuohy is a better Runner than 90% of boy Varsity distance runners

The best girl basketball player is probably only better than about 30% of boys varsity basketball players if that maybe only 10 or 15%

A team made up of the best 12 female basketball players in the world could not beat any US high school state champion boys team.

It amazes me questions like this come up both here and in greater society as often as they do. The difference in athletic ability between men and women in almost all sports is dramatic.

In college i watched a group of track guys beat our women’s b-ball team In pickup.... and that team won the national title that season.

Two of the track guys played high school hoops.

I did. You are incorrect.

A WNBA team could not beat a middle school (6-8 grade) All Star team. The kids on these teams are regularly 6" 5" +.

I went to duke in the mid 2000s and would sometimes play pickup with girls from the womens team. At that point duke had one of the top womens teams in the country and made it to a few final fours. They are really good at making shots if you gave the an inch, but it is laughable how unathletic they were. If there was a wnba at the time some of these girls would have made it, and I wold say a decent high school mens team would have completely destroyed them. A D3 team would also destroy them. A top D1 team would humiliate them.

Frankly I don't think that womens team could score more than 20 points against a high school team like montverde...

WNBA has been around since 1997, and four Duke players from "mid 2000s" went on to play there. I suspect this is a made-up story, and you probably didn't even attend Duke.

Separate question: Which ball would they use? The women's basketball is smaller than the men's.
