I have mo problem with the best being able to run that time. If he can do it, that would put him among the GOATS, IMO.

IF he can actually do it, and IF Gatlin or Baker again show 9.7/9.8 form, they have a shot (with CC) to put the WR down where JAM had it.

I mean, it's probably worth a 9.93/9.95 basic. Which is great, but that's a little bit more on line with expectations/peers.
I honestly don't see how he has it in him, either, but I believe the result because it kinda makes sense. One might argue that Norman is the by FAR the best non-100m dash 100 guy in the world. But I guess if things continued as is. He might want to consider doing a Bolt and see where the cards could fall. I, personally, think that would be a mistake, though.
What he does here is basically in line with Van der-whats-his-name, too. And, though his 100-400 PRs give home a run for his money, Van whatever is still ahead of him in the "best range" argument. Though it's getting close and I feel like Norman is likely to surpass him if the current trends continue.
See, when I see Norman do this, I feel like it SHOULD be indicative of Lyles having a 9.7 wind legal I him right now, without even really figuring out his start yet. But...I feel like the Lyles start issue is not really improving -and maybe even degrading , so my prediction is pie-in-sky.
Also, Sprintgeezer, I have a 10.27 windaided PR, too, that everyone questioned at the time because of "questionable" tech. But then I ran a 10.31 into a slight headwind a few weeks later and no one apologized. Still burns me. I'm not thrilled with the circumstances, but I'd still expect that Norman is likely more than capable of a 9.95 basic, so it's tough to question.

I would love to see it, what a clown show that would be.

With Coleman's more elite plus Norman is probably better on the turn. It makes no sense to not leadoff with Coleman if he's eligible.
Fortunately for Norman, he doesn't need Sprintgeezer's approval to call 9.86 his PR.
That is an insane effort, and just because it didn't happen with crowds in the stands doesn't mean it didn't happen. Even if he ran sub 10 right now I'd be amazed.
Pretty incredible young talent pool up to 800. All of these guys are under 25, too?

Lyles ~ clear best at 200, contender at 100
Norman ~ injury last year, but co-favorite at 400, now looks like he should consider 200 double (if possible)
Bednarek ~ 19.82 in a headwind, raw and talented
Benjamin ~ co-favorite at 400H, likely top 10 in world at 400
Kerley ~ top 3 in the world at 400, peak a bit off last year but low 43s talent
Brazier ~ favorite at 800, wants to do 4x4
Hoppel ~ on great trajectory, 4th in world despite endless season

What dont you believe? He has always been fast in the 100 since high school. Benjamin is also a sub 20 at 200 isnt he. Not too hard to believe. They also roasted Ronnie Baker who is a quality 100m specialist.

Sorry, but I am not believing this, the first tip off is the other runners in that race who are not known for their raw speed, yet running incredible times. Btw, I am well aware that Norman ran the 100m in high school and has a fast 200 PR, but 9.86 is something I don't think Coleman could have done under those circumstances. The 100m requires adrenaline, more so than any other track event which is why the fastest 100m are always run in major competitions. It is difficult to time trail a fast 100m.

What are you not believing? Get your watch and do as we've done for years... go off the gun and stop on the body dip. Re-watch and re-time over and over. He ran fast... period.
Not known for their raw speed? Rai Benjamin has a 19.99 200m into a headwind from last year so a 10.03 with a tailwind is not at all unexpected out of him. And third place is Ronnie Baker -- a guy with a 9.87 PR into a headwind. So one guy with a result you'd expect and another with a very slow performance relative to his peak.
Norman is an elite starter for the 400, and already had a 19.70 200m PR he ran last year at just 21. This run with a tailwind is probably worth about a 9.94 with no wind which I'm not sure anyone would be shocked to see given the previous results he's put up. Somewhere in South Africa WVN is quaking in his boots because his WR is poised to get crushed next year
