Sorry to hear but this is probably the worst mistake a school system can make. After our school system and community was locked down for 7 weeks our return to school included physical education which was the binding thread that helped students reconnect with their peers and improve their mental health.
I teach in a school with grades 7-10th but imagine how much those primary aged kids need to move. Movement is the key to our physical and mental well being and this will not occur in the same capacity with a regular Physical education teacher.
Luckily our positions aren't being cut in the country that I live in but I am never surprised what the US does anymore.
If you are a teacher you have a range of skills that can continue to be diversified. If you are on this sight maybe you can start your own coaching business. This is especially true now as many are realising that their health is actually important! Good luck!
