well he did run 13:27 earlier this season and 3:57 a few weeks ago. And Wisconsin is known for taking it easy at regionals (both track & xc) and doing just enough to qualify for nationals. He isn't a shoe-in to win the 5k by any means, but he'd had have to have a pretty shitty day not to get top 5.

No 13:27 5000 runner can't get top 5 in the 5000. The man was resting at regionals. To him its a stupid race that he shouldn't even have to run. Rememeber Alistair Craig a few years ago?

Unless he's injured. But unless they run 13:21 like last year I would bet on Solinski. This guy can run a long kick from 1200 out. Look for him to do that. When he takes the lead and hits a 61 with three laps to go there won't be more than one or two that will be hanging around that last lap.

I agree. When Cheseret took off in 27 or something back in indoor, Solinsky covered the move and then kept throwing down 30s. That's hardcore. Solinsky has proven he's one of the best in not THE best. 3rd in xc, 1st in 3k indoors (twice), top time in nation so far at 5000, and 3:57 mile... whew! I'm pretty sure Stephen Pifer's 3:40 is the fastest time in the nation so far for 1500, and isn't a 3:57 mile about the same time? That means Solinsky is or could be a top 5 guy at everything from 1500-10000.

Solinsky is the man in my opinion. If he doesn't win he'll definately be close, unless something really goes wrong.

Remember that 13:27 was in harsh wind conditions... I remember the gust were horrible and was expecting horrible times. So I have my money on Solinksy winning 5k and go pro after this season.

612. I was there. He ran 14:01 later that afternoon.

Solinsky also finished the 3:43 1500 at Big Ten's in 1:52 and he won by 2 full seconds with the likes of Jefferson and Woods in the conference. There are some good runners out there, however, so it is going to be no easy task.

he's not going to go pro. im sure he wants that xc individual title.

Did anyone watch the video stream from the mideast region 5K?

Well I did. It was obvious (to me anyways) that Solinsky wasn't going to waste his energy and risk anything with a demon kick down the homestretch 100. He didn't care, and he shouldn't have cared. I don't know if he'll win NCAAs or not, but he's certainly not "done".

i saw the race and solinsky looked good. and at the final 100 you could tell he just eased up. he will be there at NC's for sure.

Ya solinsky took the lead at 200 and kept it till 80 when the other two leaders started going balls out. solinsky just eased up. the last 100 was one of the slowest 100's for him the whole race.
