The thought of the Kenyans runners being afraid of any athletes from another country is almost laughable; however, the statement by one of Kenyans best athlete brought the question to my mind. In a recent article Edith Masai announced that she hopes to double at the World X-Country and the Olympics and that she plans on tackling the 10000m for the first time this year. Edith Masai is no stranger to success having medal at the 5000m World and won the last two short course edition at the World X-Country Championships.
In summary Edith stated that if the Ethopians could do it, then she could too..."I don't see anything that could stop me." (Mmmmm Edith can we say Paula Radcliffe, Derartu Tulu, Tirnesh Didaba, Gete Wami, Sun Yingje). Edith stated that the Kenyans are just as talented as the Ethopians, but their confidence is lacking. I totally agree with Edith assumptions as over the last decade Haile Gebrsellasie has
dominated the Kenyans and just when they catch and beat him at the World Championships-up jumps Kenenisa Bekele. If Edith can pull of a respectable double at both the World X-Country and Olympics she may very well provide Kenyan with
the confidence they need to dominate the world and possible Ethopia!
