Galen Rupp Edges Leonard Korir for 2017 USA 20km Title at Faxon Law New Haven Road Race (video)

The battle for the 2017 US 20k title came down to the finish as Olympians Leonard Korir and Galen Rupp battled for the title. Rupp had the lead but Korir was sprinting hard and nearly came back to the title but Galen Rupp prevailed as shown below. Had the race been a few meters longer, Korir might have been the winner.

Rupp was given a winning time of 59:04 to Korir’s 59:05 as Sam Chelanga was third in  59:16. 59:04 is 62:18 half marathon pace.

Jordan Hasay dominated the women’s race, winning by more than a minute in 66:35 over defending champ Aliphine Tuliamuk (67:49) and Sara Hall (67:53). Emily Sisson appears to have been a DNS. 66:35 is 70:14 half marathon pace.
