LetsRun.com Summer Training 2.0 By coming to this page, it's obvious that you are interested in becoming a better runner. The problem is a lot of people are interested in becoming better, but very few actually do it. Why? Two simple reasons. 1) Most are unwilling to put in the required amount of work to be the best. 2) Others are willing to work hard but lack the proper coaching. Too many runners train really hard over the summer, only to race their best races at the start of the season when it does not count. Training smart is just as important as training hard and for that reason we are proud to present the LetsRun.com Summer Training Program. We here at LetsRun are offering you a unique opportunity to be coached by who we believe is the best developmental coach in the world, John Kellogg (JK). Based upon your running background and future goals, JK will develop an individualized training plan for your base phase this summer. Then you will have weekly email and phone contact with one of JK's most successful athletes, NCAA All-American Bruce Hyde, who will be coordinating your training program. Bruce, in addition to having tremendous success in running, was a product of the only other LetsRun.com Summer Training Program we had in the summer of 2001. That summer training program, along with being trained under JK's philosophy for most of his college years plus a lot of hard work, enabled Bruce to lower his 3k PR from 8:50 in HS to 8:03 and his 1,500 meter PR from 4:00 to 3:42. Get In Shape - Guaranteed John's coaching methods simply are the best. The program does not entail a quick fix or any magic bullet that will make you good overnight. Rather, the program is based on principles that, along with your own hard work, will lay the foundation for racing success this fall and in the future as your body continues to mature. Running is primarily an aerobic activity, so the emphasis of the program is on increasing your aerobic endurance by enabling your body to run higher mileage. Runners in our summer program will work on increasing their mileage in combination with 1 or 2 days of high-end aerobic running. Our long-term approach focuses on teaching you how to run relaxed and more efficiently while at the same time strengthening the integrity of your joints by providing drills that are essential to young runners' development. The highlights of the program consist of:

Mr. Kellogg's methods and guidance helped LetsRun co-founder Weldon Johnson improve from a good journeyman collegian with a 30:14.24 10k best to a 28:06.58 10k runner who twice placed 4th at USATF Nationals and represented the U.S. internationally. More recently, site co-founder Robert Johnson, the men's distance coach at Cornell University, used Mr. Kellogg's program to vault the Cornell middle-distance and distance squads to prominence on the Ivy League track scene. Since 2005, the Big Red have twice set the all-time indoor Ivy League record in the distance medley relay (most recently running 9:35.13 in 2009), won five straight IC4A 4 x 800 championships (indoors and outdoors) from 2005 to 2007 (clocking the nation's fastest indoor times in 2005 and 2006), have twice (2005 and 2009) been ranked in the top five in the nation in the 4 x Mile relay, boasted the Heps (Ivy) indoor 5k champion in both 2008 and 2009 and swept the top two places in both the 2008 and 2009 outdoor Heps 10k. Bruce Hyde began training under the tutelage of John Kellogg, Wejo and Rojo when he signed up for their summer training program the summer before his freshman year of college. At Cornell University, Bruce improved from a 4:00 1,500m in high school to a 3:42 1,500m to finish 4th at the USATF indoor national meet. He also went from 8:50 in the 3k in HS to 8:03. He completed one of the greatest cross-country seasons in school history in 2004, winning both the Heps and NCAA Northeast regional titles and garnered All-American honors at NCAAs. The program's ideal audience is high schoolers, but anyone hoping to get in the shape for the summer is free to participate. Ready to Get Started? Sign up Here
