Rock n Roll Marathon Announces Marathon Relay San Diego, CA (March 19, 2009) Known for its exciting combination of music and fitness, the Rock n Roll Marathon is announcing a new relay event on May 31, 2009. The relay, which will begin atthe same time as the start of marathon, will feature teams of four runners each running a five-to-eight-mile leg of the course that starts at Balboa Park and winds its way through Downtown San Diego, Mission Valley and Mission Bay to reach the finish line at the Marine Core Recruit Depot. The relay competition is just another example of the spirit of the Rock n Roll Marathon, and how the local community can get involved with the event, said Kari Logan, Event Manager of the seventh largest U.S. marathon. The team competition is a great way to experience the Rock n Roll Marathon, especially for those who are not quite ready to run the full 26.2-mile distance. The relay competition will be limited to 400 teams with male, female, coed and corporate categories. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each category. All participants will receive a goodie bag, tee shirt, medal and each team will receive a commemorative Rock n Roll race baton. In what is typically considered an individual sport, this will add a fun team component, added Logan. Runners are encouraged to wear costumes and invent original team names. Camaraderie with a charity or as a part of a relay team can be as memorable a part of the race as crossing the finish line. Entry fees are $75 per relay participant and registration is now open. Teams may register online at www.rnrmarathon.com. The deadline to register your team is May 24, 2009. About The Rock n Roll Marathon A two-day Health & Fitness Expo kicks off race weekend at the San Diego Convention Center on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30.
