Internet/TV Coverage of the Trials Explained

American marathoning may be back but the television coverage is far from its glory days.

If you want to watch the races in their entirety or live and are outside of NYC your only bet is the internet.

Saturday: LIVE Olympic Marathon Trials are Free on Saturday on the Net at the link to the left
(7:30am eastern). The start is also on the NBC Today show.

Saturday afternoon there will be a half marathon highlight show on NBC at 2pm eastern. We just checked the local listings in our hometown of Ithaca, NY and are horrified to know that preceding the half hour Trials broadcast is 1 hour of paid programming.  Since it is impossible to convey the drama of a marathon in a highlight show we recommend the LIVE internet stream. The internet stream will also be archived so you can watch the race later.

If you have DirecTV or Dish and get the East Coast feeds, watch the race on NBC East and see it on TV.
Sunday afternoon there will be a one hour marathon highlight show on NBC at 3pm eastern.

International Visitors. The Race will be streamed on WCSN. I believe it will cost $4.95. But also it will be streamed on BBC and perhaps Eurosport for free.
