2005 LetsRun.com Super NCAA XC Polls: Razorbacks, Duke on Top October 12, 2005 LetsRun.com
By a narrow margin, the Arkansas Razorbacks men's cross country team takes over the #1 spot in the country from the Wisconsin Badgers in the latest LetsRun.com NCAA XC Men's Super Poll. On the women's side, the Duke Blue Devils are a strong #1 as the NCAA season heads into the Pre-Nationals weekend, the last major weekend before the conference championships in two weeks.
On the men's side, there are no real surprises in the super polls as the top 10 largely consists of the same top 10 (but in a slightly different order) as the latest cross country coaches' poll. However, on the women's side, the Colorado Buffaloes only fell one spot to #2, after losing a key runner, Liza Pascuito, to injury mid race and suffering a loss to Division II Adams State, while in the Finishlynx coaches' poll Colorado fell to #7.
NCAA cross country aficionados should have a better picture of the national scene after this weekend when most of the top teams will be competing in the NCAA pre-Nationals race in Terre Haute, Indiana. (For a list of where everyone is competing this weekend click here). Absent from the Pre Nats will be the #1 teams in the country as #1 on the men's side Arkansas will be at the Chile Pepper meet taking on #6. Arizona, #11. UTEP, and #31. Alabama.
#1 Duke will be at Penn State taking on #18. Tennessee, #20. Providence, and #29. Maryland.
