I've seriously been confused by the outrage. I think to myself, "How do you think despots stay in power in the year 2018?"
Is it because the guy killed himself often wrote as a journalist? I was thinking that but haven given it some more thought I think it's more because of the bold way it was done - in another country - combined with the fact that the guy was a known journalist of sorts.
What explains it?

At least in the US media this probably has to do with the narrative that Saudi Arabia = friend of USA vs Putin = not friend of USA. Plus, we’ve already sanctioned the sh!t out of the Russians (though, admittedly I don’t think the sanctions are directly linked to Putin’s predilection for murdering journalists).
Now, there are many, many, many obvious problems with this narrative. First of which is the whole whataboutism type arguments one can make (like you sort of just did) and the fact that the Saudis really are awful and not really “friends” of the west/USA.
Sounds like more Fake News from anti-Russia haters.
Compare, look at how many "critics" of the Clintons, died violently or in suspicious ways.

That's the main reason. There was similar outrage over the poisoning of two Russians in England back in March.

He wasn't upset about the spy poisoning in the UK and he wasn't upset about the Saudi King going after a guy. He would not get involved in these things if the press didn't question him about it.
Why did anyone have the chance to care about the UK poisoning? Because the UK and other European nations made a big deal of it. They elevated it so the world could talk about it.
Why did anyone get a chance to care about the Kashoggi think? Because Turkey was thrilled to have a chance to rat out Saudi Arabia on something, so they cried bloody murder.
I think the world is outraged by all of it so long as somebody cries afoul loudly enough that they hear about it. The UK poisoning thing and years of articles about violence against opposition candidates in Russia demonstrates that the world does care and that those things do make it into the news. Maybe you've become desensitized to it?

Most ppl believe the Russia are the Bad Guys in the Skripal case (or many others) simply because their media tells them. They have no facts, just follow the lemmings and anti-Russia narrative. When in reality any "outrage" is just manufactured by the media.
In reality, USA has more "suspicious deaths" in it than any other place in the world.
But the media/DS have to hide it all.
How do you explain Lesin? Just because the USA govt changes colours every 4 years, doesn't mean the reality isn't real for the long term. Maybe gets a mention in one article, now and then. At least it wasn't a "sudden heart attack" or a botched robbery etc.
How much does Russia pay you? Seriously you are always posting about Ukraine or something pro Russia. Do you just loan them you account handle or is it more of a sponsored post type thing?

So you think they were really just visiting the cathedral?
I think there are a few of reasons, at least regarding the outrage in the U.S.:
1. Unlike Russia, Saudi Arabia is allegedly our strategic ally.
2. We have pretty much conclusive evidence that this was carried out by the Saudis.
3. And to a lesser extent, the manner (probably involving torture) and location (the Saudi embassy) are significant.

This was an attempt by the cia to sabotage Trumps withdrawal of troops from Syria in order to continue their endless wars in the Middle East. The US was working with SA to backfill the US troops and the CIA tried to poison the relationship so US troops would have to stay.
