Worked at a UPS air hub for a few months, it sucked.
Me and the not totally ugly chick on the belt were supposed to sort the packages coming down the belt. She would flirt with the mananger all shift, I split the belt by myself. If stuff started getting backed up, I'd get yelled at.
I could have broken every single package and no one would say a word. One time I accidentally put a next day air letter in a second day air bag and I heard about it from four different levels of management the next day.
Everybody on my belt would park their cars on a dead end road after their shift and get drunk and high. I never went with them so I was kind of a pariah.
To emphasize, the job sucked.
I saw a TV news story the other night. Guy had an eighth-grade education, and had worked as a 'machinist' forever, at the same company.
He was canned two weeks from retirement/pension, so is now a WalMart greeter at the age of 81.
And a presidential candidate mentioning workforce training is a bad thing. Opening mines for 'clean coal' is a better strategy. Uh-okay.
Holy F****ing Sh**. Employee 1.1 just broke 15:00 for 5000 for the 1st time at age 36.
