Article in the Chicago Tribune about the mess with with the race. What a mess
Two people came into the running store I work at today talking about it. What a crazy mes that was.
Oh all the poor penguins who missed their BQ times!
Race Director stepped up big time and took it all on his shoulders..class act.... but poor management when you take on too much it all tumbles you have to have a team at the top not just one person(even Lebow loosened the reins a bit
as the race grew in NYC)
Has it been mentioned anywhere in Chicagoland that the event never submitted an application to get the '05 course certified? A small matter...
Apparently they made the course alterations around Navy Pier etc without getting it remeasured. Jay Wight, who does an impeccable job measuring LaSalle Bank Chicago course, also measured this one, but got no call from the Lakeshore folks to adjust the distance after they altered the course.
this race has serious mistakes every time it has been run. last year the marathon was short and the half marathon was long. had the same problems with misplaced/no markers and had the same problem with the aid stations. i'm sorry, but i do not think it is classy to apologize for making the same mistakes every year. he's just trying to get sympathy so the city doesn't not give him permits, people don't ask for their money back, etc.
are you proud of 2'18? just wondering.........
he ran that at this race. i'd say that's better than your time.
