Crazy. 28:20/10k pace half marathon for a 28:15 10k guy.

Not bad for a 28-low guy. Maybe there is hope for Rupp.

He ran under a high 27' toward the end of the season...

Very few talented runners max out their 10,000 ability with a time on the track. That should be obvious by now.
A paced 26-high is nothing that every current 2:03-2:06 guy couldn't do for a payday.
How is it that there are only 10 Kenyans faster than an unknown Norwegian? Norway, a tiny country where barely anyone even runs? Is someone lying to me about the natural ability of Kenyans?
fluctuations.

Lots of people run in Norway. Ever heard about Grete Waitz or Ingrid Kristiansen? Sondre do by the way spend a lot of time training in Kenya.
Moen already ran a marathon earlier this year, Hannover in April where he was 3rd in 2:10:07, just 15 sec behind the winner (and same time as 2nd). Made his marathon debut in 2015 and was 19th in the marathon in Rio last year. Also has a 27:55 on the road from Sep and a 13:20 on the track earlier this year.
Clearly better than his old track 10K PR would indicate. As for the guy above, yeah there are "only" 10 Kenyans ahead of him on the world list this year (plus a Kenyan-born Bahraini, 4 Ethiopians and a Tanzanian) but 59:48 puts Moen equal 104th athlete on the all-time list, with 72 of those ahead of him being Kenyan (plus Cheroben, born in Kenyan).
Certainly begs for a detailed explanation from Renato unless we should think that any number of our 13:20 or better 5000m runners should be able to break 1 hr with proper training. Our only guys to run 1 hr or better have been Hall (13:16/59:43) and Ritz (12:56/60:00 tactical). What could Teg or Solinsky or Rupp or True or Lagat or any number of other sub 13:20 guys have run on a fast course in their prime?
I attended a conference in Valencia in which Renato Canova presented really nicely the Kenyan training philosophy . He mentioned Sondre and how he had "included" stuff into his training.
He said that when Sondre approached him he had a look at what he had done in the past, and that he decided to include some things Sondre had not done before, it looks like this changes have worked.
Maybe Renato can tell us more about this changes.

I know from past posts of Renatos that he thinks 13:10 guys should be breaking 27 in the 10 when properly trained. And a sub-27 is surely indicative of sub-60 half so....
The problem with Europeans and Americans is not their speed, they just don't train specifically right and are left behind. Many are running their goal race 6 weeks before they should. Zane ran his half time off the back of a 13:17 5k, A lot of Europeans/Americans have what it takes to compete at 10/HM but they are not training right and specific endurance is lacking.
