I saw Mary Slaney fall at the start of the Peachtree 10K back in the early 80's. She had been one of the favorites that year and after she fell was not a factor in the race.

Last night, I read the thread you are referencing but had no idea it had a link to a story that had the tweet in it as the title was poor as was the first post. It would have been much easier to just include the tweet and a more descriptive title. I wasn't aware video existed until I woke up this morning.
When I realized video existed, I started this thread. I deleted the other thread as we don't need multiple threads on the same topic.

We need frame by frame analysis, as was done on the Zapruder film. This could have been a Tonya Harding type take down at the start. I am 95% kidding.

earlier today I created a thread to discuss whether Bekele faked an injury or not. It was deleted. It was not an ill-motivated thread. I am having a hard time believing that was an injury. Not sure why you deleted, it was harmless.
Damn i vaguely saw a person get knocked over but i didnt realize it was bekele thats awful. Was he ever actually in the lead group then or was he chasin from behind the whole way?

I was watching before the start and saw Bekele standing in the second row, just right of center. To me he looked nervous. Everybody seemed to be thinking of something different, not focused on any directions they were being given. They just looked like they were awaiting starting instructions. Then all the sudden the starting horn went off. I don't think anybody was really ready for that.
Aww he's still smiling in that photo even though he had an awful fall. Hopefully on the brightside he can get in even better shape for April than he was for Dubai.
Damn, kind of a fan of Bekele now. Hope he comes back with a vengeance and rips a fast one. Would be great to come back after all these years and take the throne again. Farah is a bit overrated tbh.
I assume they paid him a ton of money to show up and attempt this WR. Why would he be in that position? Water under the bridge I guess, but I'd expect to see the super-elites starting in a separate corral or something from now on.
