A person makes the following statement regarding their honesty:
"I always lie."
It's the only thing this person has and will ever say.
Is the person lieing, or telling the truth?

Is this person black or white?
Neither.
If he's telling the truth his statement is a lie.
If he's lying he's telling the truth.
He is telling the truth. He is bedridden, and thus he always lies (as in lies down).
If he means lie as in say things that aren't true, he is lying. If he spends the rest of his life in silence, he can't be lying (he's not lying while he isn't talking). Note that the statement is not "everything I say is a lie," but "I always lie," which would mean that he would have to literally be telling a lie every second of every day for the statement to be true.
Please provide more information. Is the person a female? Is the person running for president?
He is both lying AND telling the truth. First it is true that he always lies, but then he doesn't always lie so it becomes false, and then it is consistent with always lying again and since he never says anything else it becomes true.
something can be both true and false as long as it's at different points in the reasoning process. Things don't have to be true all the time, or false all the time. I will call this "Quantum Logic" if someone else hasn't already invented it or used that term to describe something different.
That's not a riddle it's a paradox.

He's lieing, he sometimes lies and sometimes tells the truth.
Such a simple question and you have all the information you need, yet cannot come to a consensus.

Most of the time he says nothing. He is neither lying nor telling the truth during that time, therefore he does not always lie.
