I'm on the end of a pretty long (5 month) and intense training cycle.
I've been making good progress the last 7 weeks in particular.
I ran a good 10k 9 days ago (Saturday, PR) and one of my best interval sessions the next Wednesday (6x1600m @ 5:09 avg).
I took it pretty easy the next few days after that interval session but didn't seem to recover very well. Saturday's workout was a mild disaster, pooped out around 1/3 of the way through a tempo run.
Took Sunday off and ran easy on Monday. Today I tried another tempo effort at marathon pace. It felt hard from the start and I only made it 4.5 miles. 3 weeks ago I did 10 miles at this pace with less effort.
Any advice on what to do the next 4 weeks? It's a little early to start the taper. Any way to salvage my marathon?
