eh...usually second tier people we have barely heard of. I have no reason to expect anything but the usual former soviet union countries and then a smattering of others from around the developing world.

The article says something about "2 steroid cases" under the 17 positives? I wonder about Matthew Kisorio's training partners.

I'm going with at least 8 Kenyans. I've been hearing some things.

I think that Kiptanui's interview with the BBC last month was a harbinger. As was Kenya's poor performance in the Games. I think that a whole bunch of their athletes have gotten nabbed and that there's been some heavy negotiations going on to ameliorate the impact on the sport, but still make it look like there's real policing of PEDs.

Of course, I've only heard second hand rumors, so the above could all be completely wrong, but, it sounds plausible. In any case, I'm happy to pass along the rumors. It's not like it will drag down the journalistic integrity of the boards

So you're saying that you heard about a bunch of high-profile olympians from Kenya were caught at the time, and that was the fact for their poor performances at London OG's?

For me...the biggest dissapointments came from Kiprop (injured) Kiplagat and Chepseba. And possibly Isaiah Koech (not at all, given his lack of experience). Emanuel Mutai in the Marathon too.

The 10000m runners (Wilson Kiprop, Bedan Karoki and Moses Masai) weren't known for his final 400m speed. And they were smoked by Rupp and Mo in the final lap.

Sadly you're right - the ones who get caught are the ones who don't know how to dodge the tests or the ones who don't have much of a career to lose anyways.

I've heard this argument a couple times now, that Kenyan did bad in the Olympics because they had a bunch of top guys get caught doping. My question is how the hell did Kenya do bad in the Olympics? They had as many medals in the middle and long distance events as Ethiopia, the US, and Great Britain put together! On the men's side they won 7 of the 18 available middle and long distance medals. The great Ethiopia by contrast only had 2.

The Jamaican sprinters are probably doped, but they are not endurance athletes.

There will be several speed skaters among the positives. Very dirty sport...
