I am hearing its Steve Mullings who already has served a 2 year ban. Hearing this could be the tip of a big iceberg and one that could impact his training partner Tyson Gay.

I would add its for a new masking agent that potentially could bust dozens more in the days ahead.
So the bust is for lasix, a masking agent for steroids, and I hear we will have a few more similar busts from tests this summer for the same drug. Bet a few prominent athletes pull out of Worlds over the next couple weeks citing "injury" to avoid being subjected to the new tests!
It saddens me to say this, but this does not come as a surprise. Everybody and their mother is running under 9.85 in the 100 these days.
My mother still can't break 10.0 in the 100, much less 9.85

The local Sri Lanka media is reporting that it is a former training partner and close friend to Usain Bolt.

Alright maybe under 9.9 is more accurate.
I didn't see this thread earlier so I opened a new one.In any case, the post I made with all the info is here. It's likely Steve Mullings and it's rather strange that Tyson pulled out of the US trials around the same time that this test was done (and Mulling's summarily failed).Suspicious stuff to say the least.

http://trackalerts.com/news/lead-stories/5299-positive-test-for-jamaican-athleteA Jamaican athlete, with less than three weeks to go before the 13th IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, has tested positive, this according to information reaching trackalerts.com.
A well-placed source told trackalerts.com that the test on the athlete was carried out at the Jamaican trials, held June 23-26.
It was also said that the athlete was only informed about the result on Monday. The athlete in question has competed since trials.
Patricia Charles-Freeman, executive director of JADCO, the body which was responsible for carrying out the drug testing locally, could not be reached for a comment while the JAAA doesn’t comment on drug issues.
Further information provided in the Jamaica Gleaner (also linked) had this to say
http://go-jamaica.com/news/read_article.php?id=30908The athlete is a sprinter, the athlete was expected to represent Jamaica in Daegu, the athlete is US-based and has previously failed a drug test. This being his second offense would effectively end his career. He was expected to represent the country in 2 events in Daegu.
Now knowing all of that, it's pretty safe to say we know who this individual is. It also doesn't help allay suspicions that there was a significant correlation in the dates of the Jamaican National Trials and the US national trials where a certain individual pulled out injured. Whilst I'm not one to make accusations, it's fairly obvious that such "coincidences" are rare and warrant further investigation.
What say you? Sprint Geezer? Anyone?

come on man, she'll get there, have some faith!
Go Dix!
How long until Gatlin tests positive for the masking agent?
My bets are on significant withdrawals from Daegu from tons of people. Keeping my eye on a certain aging female sprinter myself.
Random question but do the authorities notify athletes of what they'll be testing for after samples have been submitted?
I don't know about tons of withdrawals, I don't think the IAAF could weather that storm very well.
Remember it was, I think, the Jamaican nationals that were watched by a huge television audience worldwide.
It couldn't have been just for Bolt, since he didn't even run!
My guess is that they picked a fall guy to send a warning shot to everyone else.
Will the fall guy be bitter and squeal?
I hope so. I'd be pissed if I got banned for a 9.8x when some other clown didn't get banned for a 9.58

C'mon, Veronica's not getting THAT old.

Hi, I'll be testing you for ________ today. I'm doing this because obviously the best way to stay one step ahead of the cheaters is to tell them what tests we have.
Whoever it is, I hope he comes clean about other athletes in his training group too.
Well when your training buddy doesn't get nailed and pulls out of the US trials on the same weekend you fail the test it's probably not going to go down well.
He'll squeal alright but the person most likely to get burnt is Tyson and not Bolt. Remember all eyes were on Usain after Blake's run-in with the law.
Personally hold no US or Jamaican biases due in part to holding citizenship in both places and a 3rd not to be named country ;).
But seriously speaking there will be a great many that could be nailed here and all of them are likely to be sprinters. Of both nationalities.
The fallout here could be huge. And rumours are saying it'll be just that.
This sucks. I need to find a new niche sport without the drug-use nonsense. If this gets big, it's going to kill track and field.
The penalty for a positive test should be extended to 4 to 8 years.
