If I'm reading this right, the US goes from 11 meets to 2 in one year? What the Hell happened to US track meets?

Bitches complain about them. "ohhh, I don't like the schedule" "The coverage sucks" "It's too expensive" "wahh wahhh wahhhh"
Those numbers are comparing Top 50 meets in 2010 to Top 100 meets in 2009. They are different measures: one is Top 50 and the other is Top 100. It is quite possible the US still has 11 or so Top 100 meets, but only two of those 11 are in the Top 50.
Well, there were two Diamond league meets here in 2010. I guess everything else didn't count?
I've been to those meet"ing"s in Europe. They are fat blob fests with people shoveling down wursts and beer. 90% of the fans don't know a discus from a disk drive.

hmmm, perhaps a trip across the pond is in order..
It says the US had 9 top 100 meets in 2010 compared to 11 top 100 meets in 2009.
The "2" is for number of top 50 meets in 2010.

And that's exactly the beauty of European track meets, the general public have a passing interest in athletics, unlike america where the whole fanbase is pretty much either current or former athletes themselves, or in other words, few. And some european meets have a very educated athletics crowd who know the difference between a 22m and 20m shot put and react accordingly, some don't.
spot on, favre.
The USA has the #1 T&F team in the world. Those Europeans are primitive, smelly, half-Mongoloid savages.
