I think the body response to long-term use of EPO is to lower

its production to very low levels such that there is no net

effect. The same happened to KB; he is no longer as fast as he used to despite being at his prime at 27 (he should be able to run sub26 based on his 2004 -2005 performances)

That does not mean that exogenous Testosterone will stop having an effect. To the contrary, T4 will continue to work. Just look at the bodybuilders. Now, they cycle it to ensure that endogenous production does not completely shut down long term, and to ensure that T receptors remain available for as much biological response as possible...but it still works.

Saying that EPO will just stop working is likely not true. The EPO receptor is tyrosine kinase membrane receptor, and linked to a Jak/Stat signaling cascade. While it is true that all receptors can undergo downregulation upon chronic agonism, most kinase membrane receptors are less susceptible to this than, say, intracellular sex hormone receptors (like Testosterone and estrogen).

The sad thing is that Wanjiru himself is in denial.I reckon the main reason why Wajiru has lost focus is because of the sort of money he has earned in a very short period of time.Alot of kenyan athletes run purely for commercial reasons;they do not do it for thelov of sport and once they reach their goal the motivation goes.Other top athletes expiriencing the same thing are Lel,Tergat,Korir,Rutto etc.these guys have made money( by kenyan standards) beyond their wildest dreams hence the motivation for continuing to train hard and race is gone.

You are talking about Paul Tergat right? I don't see how 1993-2009 can be considered a short career. The only reason he has stopped is because he is over 40 now.

So wanjiru has a dream over several years to win a gold medal, all his blood, sweat, and tears went into winning this and forgive him if after achieving something so great he is finally content and living the good life.

Athletes are rarely content with one good performance. If he is, fine for him but it is definitely not the norm. Especially among American athletes.
