I am thinking about carrying a pistol for my runs on a trail just on the outskirt of the city after a recent incident. Has anyone ever done this? It is allowed? Do I need to carry it in a bag or, given the fact it would swing around in a bag, just carry it in my hand?
please don't. if you have to carry a gun to run, do you really think it's worth it? what if an accident happens with it? more so, are you actually planning on having to use it or just to scare off any potential threats? I would recommend pepper spray or finding a different area to run if necessary.
What was this "incident" that has you frightened? T-mills are always safe, awful as they are, but if you feel you have to run with a gun (not even mace or pepperspray), is it worth it to run where you currently are?

Gun laws vary by state.
I've got nothing against carrying a gun, but unless it's to protect yourself against an animal attack I'd suggest you'd be better off running somewhere else. You're just asking for trouble.

I love guns, but it is insane for this incident to scare you enough to carry one on a run.
If a guy sneaks up on you and hits you in the head, a gun is worthless. If he chases you, my guess is any runner serious enough to run in a bad area should be able to get away.
Do you even know how to fire a gun? If you have to ask the best way to carry one, I'd assume not.
If one were to run with a gun, what would be the best type of holster to use? Please answer for :(1) the sort of small pistol carried by Gov. Rick Perry, and (2) a large, high-caliber revolver.

You don't need no gun. Each month I check up on my grandparents in South Central L.A. spending the weekend there. I do my daily run from on Vermont from Manchester up to Exposition with no problems. People think I'm crazy and they leave me alone.
