I'm in my late 30s and lots of my friends have bought timeshares. I don't get it. They seem like horrible wastes of money. Basically, you pay fees 12 months a year to stay at a place for a single week. Seems like it'd be a whole lot cheaper to book a week in a really nice hotel than pay those fees for 12 months a year.
And you're committed to this vacation spot from now through eternity unless you can sell it to some other sucker. Is there something about these "deals" that I'm overlooking? I just don't understand why anyone who can add 2 + 2 would ever invest in a timeshare. Somebody please explain.
