Teg doesn't do the 10k
1 + i does not equal 2
Teg don't run no 10K stupid.
Teg don't run no 10k. sorry.
You know I was thinking about this after the race. Sort of. I wasn't thinking "can Teg run under 27?" I was thinking about how Teg has had Solinsky's number. I've often wondered if it because of an actual talent difference (mostly the kick) or a psychological thing (the can't beat big brother complex). Chris' 3000 pr is actually faster than Teg's, from a race that Teg was not in. Chris ran his 5000 pr when Teg was not in the race (of course if he was, Teg might have just won that Heusden race). Often it seems that Chris defers to Teg, in races and outside of them to a point.
Anyway, this is a monumental breakthrough, obivously. IMHO, this is going to lead to some absolutely nasty 5000m times this year for Solinsky. Last I heard Teg is hurt. Maybe he's coming along well now and will race later in the season, maybe not. But if Chris can continue to progress this season like this, maybe that psychological barrier of beating Teg will evaporate (if there indeed is one). This could mean even more unforseen heights for american distance running on the track. I'm excited.

He will now, stupider.
1+1=2 is really bad math when it comes to racing; Wariner can beat Symmonds at 400m, does that mean he can run 1:43 in the 8?
more bad math:
nothing > sex
a tuna sandwich > nothing
a tuna sandwich > sex

What really makes bad math here is the way you used two meanings of the word nothing as the same thing. By saying nothing is greater than sex you are saying that there is not a single thing that is greater than sex, or sex is greater than everything. By saying a tuna sandwich is greater than nothing, you are saying that having a tuna sandwich is greater than having nothing.
1) Teg doesn't do the 10K
2) No, this does not mean Teg could beat him either. Rupp usually beats Solinsky, and Rupp usually beats Chelanga.
Neither happened Saturday night.
Matthew Tegenkamp does not run the ten-thousand meters, friend.
Actually Teg has a faster PR in the 3000 (from USATF)3,000m - 7:34.98 (2006)And also his 2 mile of 8:07.07 converts to some crazy 3kTeg may be a bit more talented (a little more leg speed)Chris may be a bit stronger at the longer distance.I have no doubt that Teg is capable of a 26:40ish 10k, but he may make the same mistake that others have made (moving up after they are "over the hill")
Solinsky has always been the better runner of the two.
Somehow Tegencramp deluded him into not running the 10, maybe because HE fears the longer distances.
Another thing is that Solinsky has often run bad races, either running too slow of a pace (like Teg likes), or else not being prepared for a hard one. His recent training and the way the Stanford 10k was set up are ideal for him. As long as Solinsky keeps getting stronger and uses these same tactics, then he will also beat Tegencramp at the 5k.
No. Because all Solinsky trains for is the 10K and all Teg trains for is the 5K. I know that sounds absurd. But just listen to Solinsky's interviews about his training. Also check out his performance in the 5K at the World Championships. He had plenty of strength to be among the leaders but in the last lap he was destroyed by everyone. Teg at least held his own against a few other runners. He obviously doesn't work on speed. Just on strength and endurance. But he has this fetish for running the 5K?
no. due to the inverse distance/aerobic capacity ratio, I think Solinsky has the edge over 10K.

Well some might say that a tuna sandwich = sex...
Teg has never raced the new "Solinsky Light". He has his work cut out for him.
I think it's much safer to infer that Teg would have a good shot at breaking 26 in a six miler.
In case it has not been mentioned yet
Teg don't run no 10k
It means Teg can break 26!
I really wish the ol' Teg thread hadn't been deleted. That was some of the best 10th grade humor ever on this site.
Teg is just off injury and might have run this race under different circumstances.
