Wow. This guy is amazing. He continues to improve in his performances, as he sets new PRs. I can't wait to see what he'll do in track this summer. Hopefully he'll get close to or break Ritz's 12:56. I think he has the potential. And of course with Al Sal by his side, pretty much anything is possible. It's going to be a great summer.

Solinsky will hand the throne to rupp? Rupp is much more talented than solinsky. I'm sure rupp will run sub 27 and get the AR at some point but the difference is that no one will care.

Um, did you just see what happened yesterday?
THRONE- as in what a Pope or King sits in, a King, in this case KING of the track, which Sol-in-sky just proved he was by beating all the competition and setting a record in the process.
If I'm not mistaken, Rupp has no American Record at the 10K distance. Sol-in-sky does. Thus when Rupp exceeds Sol-in-sky's performance the throne will have passed to him, but not before since in order to have a record in the first place you have to win, which Rupp did not.
Sol-in-sky could retire tomorrow and Galen still would not be crowned. Not until he bests that time, and even more importantly, beats Sol-in-sky in a race to prove his worth, if he can be considered better.
If they were to race again tomorrow, it would be highly likely that Sol-in-sky would win again. And the next day, and the day after, and the day after that.
Until Rupp proves otherwise, that's how competition works.
I'd say the king is the defending US national champion == Rupp. THAT's how competition works.

Must be from Oregon. They like to point out how good their runners did in race, despite getting beat. Then they just disregard or don't give praise to the other competitors that beat them. Like this thread for instance talks about Rupp who finished 4th, Ritz who didn't race and their coach Al Sal. No mention of the new American Record holder from that same race.

When all is said and done, Rupp will have the better record, the records, and the better career.
Be patient.
Solinsky just graduated three years ago. rupp graduated last year. They are close in age. They were competitors in college and will continue to be competitors in the pros for many years. Advantage, solinsky.

Can't you just wish both of them well? The Oregon 'groups' in general are slowly making headway in showing that it's possible for "lowlanders" to compete against the "mountain men".
Fantastic run by Rupp, very gutsy pushing the pace. Ran himself wobbily legged. Incredible run by Solinsky - especially over that last 800. He had more in the tank for sure.
Can someone go over how competition works again, please?
