horrible horrible horrible!
I think he's swallowing the mic while talking. He's too close to the drums obviously. He doesn't know all the big names in the field. The camera angles suck.
Can't wait til I get to watch these races on flotrack.
Can't someone just call him and tell him to slide the mic over toward Ryan of Flotrack? I can hear him faintly in the background.
Now he's taking a smoke break. But he'll be back with 10 laps to go.
After watching that girl at Penn Relays do a hack job on thursday night this guy isn't doing too bad of a job. His voice isn't annoying, he isn't trying to be something he's not. Just giving some updates and letting the viewers watch the races themselves and figure things out.

Jerry and Richard?
It's not bad for free. I do feel bad for anyone who paid, though.
LOL! He must be tired from talking too much
OK, he's a HELLUVA lot better than Cara was at Penn Relays (which is why she really didn't commentate after day 1 of that meet I think). But if this, THIS, is what constitutes fine announcing in track and field then our sport is far worse off than any of us want to recognize. Imagine trying to tell your friend "hey they're going for the American Record in this race tonight" trying to get them remotely interested only to have a zombie talking once every minute, no splits, no knowledge of how the runners are stacking up aganist the record, little knowledge of who's in the field, the camera ONLY showing the lead runner even though 2nd place is only 5 m back and closing hard, and douchebags beating on garbage cans 5 feet from the goddamn mic. Your friend would think you are a f-ing dumbass for liking such a stupid sport.
seriously guys. I hate Carol Lewis announcing crew as much as anyone (although some of the rest of the professional announcers have improved and Ato Boldon is really good).
But let's remember that until this year there was NO WAY to watch the Stanford meet except for going down to the track (which I did for many years). Now I'm on the opposite coast and I can simply turn on my computer and catch the good races, and not have to worry about staying warm during the women's 10k.
Let's give the announcers and cameramen, who stand there in the cold on their own time bringing us these races, the thanks they deserve.
Thanks fellas.
Such humor, Herr W. You must be out at that Irish pub on Madison. But alas, you are mistaken, as a bit of care would reveal, since "Jerry and Richard" does not contain an ampersand. Thanks for playing, though.Incidentally, I still have a tape of Rojo and Wojo from when they left their mike open. On nights I'm depressed I whip it out and . . . oops--perhaps that's the wrong metaphor.

Jerry and Richard?
Lets just announce the last 10 meters of the hundred. And the last 2 minutes of the NBA Finals.
Cara was way better than the lazy slug they have announcing tonight.
'AND SHALENE FLANAGAN IS STILL WAY IN THE LEAD'
REPEAT 45 TIMES..
LAST LAP, 'AND ROWBURY IS CLOSING IN!'
What a gongshow. You would think at very LEAST, they would get a runner to announce the races. No splits, can't pronounce Saucony or Abdirahman....calls the freakin home stretch the front stretch...just rediculous.
Honestly, how do you not give splits....like someone else said, the coverage is better when he left, as at least then you can hear the flotrack guys in the backround.
Anyone know why flotrack couldn't steam it live this year?

Wrong, he graduated from the Marcel Marceau School of Broadcasting.
(Even better than glimpse hearing the Floski's in the background, is it seems like the Stanford guy is hearing their call...and then repeating what they say as far as spotting athletes...)
Of all of the people at the Stanford meet they couldn't find one person that know something about track?
Anyone in the stands could do better.
he can read...he can announce......but where is he?...sad!
Does anyone think the young woman interviewing the runners is a Stanford undergraduate? That we have any coverage at all is great, but with a smattering of preparation, anyone could ask a few interesting questions. In fairness, she has asked one or two of some value; unfortunately, they have been swamped by giggling and ignorance.
he just said he was a track/distance expert
I bet you don't think Larry Rawson is bad now do you? :)
