I had pain in my legs starting last October, getting worse and finally taking me out at the beginning of March. I have been diagnosed with presumed chronic exertional compartment syndrome (he hasn't done the test which involves a needle in my legs yet because he said it was very obviously compartment syndrome from the symptoms).
I've taken a month off, foam rolled, stretched, iced, had physical therapy, tried to change my form, etc. After three weeks back, the compartment syndrome has returned.
I'm considering the surgery, but I've heard varying reports on it--that it might not work, that it might weaken my legs, that it might cause nerve damage in my legs. I don't want to get surgery if it might make me unable to run in the future.
Who here has had compartment syndrome? Has anybody else had the surgery? How are you doing post-surgery?
(I know there's been some discussion on this before, but it wasn't conclusive...)
