Two former HS 800m runners and one German guy are going to race 800m tomorrow morning for the prize of two lunches. I am bankrolling this endeavor purely out of curiosity.
The contenders:
1) 25 year old athlete, 5-9 140lbs, 800m PR 2:09 from HS. Works out 4 days a week lifting weights, HS wrestler. Claims that ongoing defeats in intra-office competitions must end tomorrow due to his MS graduation coming up in a few weeks. Is overly concerned about perception attractive girls on elliptical machines will have of him - so is motivated additionally from this.
2) 23 year old athlete, 5-10 160lbs, 400m PR 54r, 800m PR 2:06, mile PR 4:44, all from HS. Works out 2-3 days/week running and lifting sporadically. Predicts defeat for himself because 'I'm not talented'. Narrowly missed state meet in mile sr year of hs by being kicked down last 1/2m of race by two guys...after passing them all the last 100m of the race...still holds grudge.
3) 25 year old GERMAN athlete, 6-0 148lbs, 5555m in 21:12 (hilly course) placing 50/1500. Once ran a 400m race in HS but doesn't know the time (he won against the one guy he raced). Works out 1-2 times per week lifting weights occasional jogging, playing basketball etc. He claims 'awesome spirit and extreme confidence' in this race, he was once told by an iron man runner that he is the best running talent he had ever seen.
