There is this guy that runs past alberto salazar during this 10k race. Hes also being interviewed after salazar. I've been trying to look and see what race this was and who this runner is.

The information in japanese on the right side mentions a Rob Castella. They talk about Castella as well throughout the video.
To be more clear it's Robert De Castella aka Deek
His running form is very interesting.
As this was shown on the screen as a 27:43 world best, this must have been the 1984 Continental Homes 10K in Phoenix won by Zackariah Barie of Tanzania.
that's Deke
What does it take to be recognized in this sport?
Inaugural World Champion '83, double Commonwealth Gold, Boston Winner, Sub 2:08...
Actual World Record Holder during the time Salazar was the recognized holder.
Badass 'stache before Sell was born(not quite).

Yeah, I was assuming this was a troll attempt.
However, to be fair, if the person asking the question is under say 25 years old, and not a huge fan of running history, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they might not recognize the Deke.
Salazar must not have been taking the Special Salazar sauce at that point in his career.
Very cool-thanks for posting!
thanks guys for the info. I'm suprised not much is said about him. If he beat salazar in his prime, why isn't he coaching?
Another thing I want to add is this music especially seko's theme is really good.
what happened to salazar? He was never the same runner since the 82' boston.
Thanks for that. That was during the "Golden Age" of marathoning. There were so many medal possibilities in that race. I wanted Lopes to win and always admired Treacy.
Note that, in the brief shots of them both doing training runs, they are on grass or trail-type surfaces and NOT hammering and wearing trainers?
