NYRR really sticks it to the 35-39 year olds in the open. Not like Boston... Missed qualifying by less than a minute @ Chicago this year.
This thread is of particular interest to me because I was planning on running my first NYCM in 2010.
I've been struggling this year, but ran a qualifying half-marathon in March '09. According to the website, I can use that time though I'm not happy with it and the new window isn't giving me an opportunity to improve it.
As this would be my first NYC Marathon, how do they seed runners? If you qualify and get in via early entry, do they seed subsequent lottery entrants by time? My March performance will really knock me back if that's the case. Or do early entry qualifiers get in corrals closer to the front and lottery positions fall behind them, regardless of times?
If anyone knows, please tell me. Thanks.
