Hey everyone,
This is my first post here. Just looking for some ideas on breaking through the 16:00 5k barrier. If anyone has any workouts or training tips that would translate to a sub 16:00 5k I would greatly appreciate it.
I am a college grad student and have been running off and on since h.s. I usually run pretty heavy in the summer and fall, but can't sustain anything during the winter (this alone may be the problem). I tend to reach a certain level of fitness fairly quickly, but then have a hard time progressing. Over the past couple of years I usually hit a 17:00-17:30 5k on a few weeks of training, but really cant push it any further.
This year I have taken it a little further running a 16:32 at the end of august, but have regressed back to the 16:50's the last 2 5k's. So, like I said I'm just looking for any input and maybe a new workout of two to mix things up. I always end up doing the same routine over and over so a change of pace would be nice. THANKS!
On a side note...I'm running the Columbus half this weekend. I think I'm aiming for 6:00/mi. Sound reasonable???
Training so far this fall has been geared towards 5k's however...
