I love beer. I run a lot of miles, most at high intensity, so that I can maintain my weight despite all the beer that I love to drink.
I love beer. I need some good answers to give my friends and family to justify my love for beer when they question the amount of beer I love to drink.
Can anyone offer good reasons to drink beer?
Did I mention that I love beer? I do.

because there is such a great variety, and you are sampling it all much like a wine connoiseur would
because it is so good
because it gets you drunk
because it is just so damn good
because it quenches your thirst so much better than whiskey or wine
because it is fanstastically good
because standing around the grill cookin up some burgers or steaks requires something cold be in the other hand, and really, a coke just won't do
because it is so amazingly wonderfully good
because it is high in zinc and right now is the start of cold and flu season - sure beats those zinc lozenges
and finally
because it is good.

after I workout a beer always seems the most satisfying... do I indulge? nope... I mean it does got some carbs.... but ....

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed - Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'

You're just not drinking it right. Wrong time, wrong beer, with the wrong food, for the wrong reason, it could be anything. It's hard to explain. For what it's worth, my old college roomies told me the same thing when I tried pot and didn't get high. I decided I wasn't going to put work into properly smoking pot and forgot about it.
I like wine, and on occasion I like whiskey, but there is nothing like beer. It is delicious, it goes with everything, and there is a beer for every season. I rarely get drunk off of it, but I still love every bit of it. A good IPA is more complex, and can have as many varieties as a good red wine, and is much more thirst quenching. A good dark beer, be it brown ale, stout, or porter can stand alone just as easily as it can complement a great meal. Blonds, Ambers, Pales, and Reds, Belgians and Germans, they all have their place and all are delicious. Beer can be sweet, it can be sour, beer can be bitter, and nothing is better. Man I love beer.
Beer has chromium, which aides in recovery. I think I read that somewhere but I was drunk at the time and it's a bit fuzzy.
I ran eight miles this morning after 6 Sam Adams last night. I felt great afterwards!
This is my Running vs. Beer math - Every mile you run cancels out every 12-oz. bottle you drink. Run more milea than bottles of beer, and you're on your way to fitness and a happy life.
Here's to great workouts and well-deserved buzzes - AHHHHH (as I take a long swig from a cold bottle)!!!

LOL. I think I read in Lore of Running that drinking a beer after a race is good because it gets your kidneys working again.
I also like beer after a race to see if I ran the race hard enough. If I ran really hard, I can't get drunk. No problem, because beer tastes great. If you didn' run as hard as you could have, you can get drunk. No other drink is the same!
