Galan Rupp running 3,000 today in Rieti prediction thread

what the f has ian dobson done in the past year that makes you think he is in shape to run 7:33?

it's probably all pretty unrealistic especially dobson at 7:33

Optimistic maybe? you dont know how his training has gone lately, the last time he raced he was in 13:18 shape, maybe the past 3 to 4 weeks have gone great and he is now in alot better shape with some more speed and he is ready to have the race of his life, how many of you guys would have predicted Teg's 13:04 last year before it happened, shit, maybe this will be that kind of race for him, I hope it is!

As for everyone else I thought a high 7:30's to low 7:40's is what they are aiming for so I thought i would just post it and hopefully they work together and have a great night in the group. Rupp ran 7:40's 2 yrs ago, and he has ran a lot faster lately.

What actually happened here? Was there a fall or something, why did Goucher and a few others DNF?

I don't understand the need for these guys to continue racing this late into the season. Especially Rupp. Is he going to continue racing all the way until NCAA XC nationals?

I agree...they were both fried after US Nationals took a week off and regrouped pretty well for worlds with no tune up races. They should be happy they did as well as they did, take a few weeks off and start preparations for 2008.

The US did not have all of it's top people in the 5000. There are so many that are better than Goucher. He used to beat Lagat in college, and now Lagat dusts him with ease.

Perhaps he thinks it´s better for his future development to take on the world´s elite runners instead of focusing on some pseudo-racing garbage like NCAA XC nats.

But aren't you supposed to be in school some if you are racing NCAA? What am I missing here?

He's redshirting the fall. Probably the spring as well. Oregon is on the quarter system, so class has another week or two before it gets rolling.
