I know this is probably not the most ideal place to start, but I was wondering if anyone that frequents these boards has both a law and a biology degree (emaphasis on molecular/biotechnology) and could tell me the type of work they do. I\'m assuming if you\'re using both degrees it is a patent or even environmental law job.
My situation..
I graduated college a couple of years ago with a degree in biology/chemistry. I applied to med schools but didn\'t get in despite good grades/MCATs/ok EC\'s. I was told I needed more hospital experience. I fully intended to take a year off, work in a lab, do some volunteering at a hospital, and reapply. In the meantime, I got comfortable with a decent salary and benefits working in biotech and haven\'t applied again. I\'m now 25, and honestly, the thought of going back to school for 4 years plus 3-7 more years of living in poverty as a resident is starting to sound like too much of a sacrifice for me. I know I don\'t want to do a Ph.D (along the same lines of poverty and length of training, not to mention an extremely competitive job market), so I started looking at alternative careers and biology and law looked like they had some nice overlaps. I like science and would enjoy being able to deal with it on a daily basis, just not sitting at a bench. 3 years also seems like a reasonable amount of time to be in school for the returns.
I guess I\'m just asking for any insight, as I don\'t personally know anyone who has taken this road. I would also welcome suggestions from anyone else who got a biology degree and pusued an \"alternative\" career path.
