Sorry if this question is moronic, either way, but do we know this is really Henry Rono? Seriously?

I have read his other posts and I feel confident that it is indeed Henry Rono posting here. I would be truly disappointed if it is not. He was a hero of mine as a young runner. Tinman

My favorite runner of all-time, I was very fortunate to be in high school just eight miles away while Henry was at WSU. I saw many races and to watch him run was to watch something rare. A true legend. I watched the NCAA X-C championships in Spokane, when he blew everyone away. I saw him run in Eugene, winning the NCAA steeple title ... but he could've won the 5K and 10K, too, had he wanted to. He ran 13:22 in a 5K heat before opting out.

My friends and I spotted him at a gas station once, we started pointing and saying, "There he is!!"

Henry saw us gawking teenagers, just waved and flashed a great smile. I'll never forget it.

A true legend!

Henry,

I was just a skinny Kansas high school kid in the late '70's and early 80's, and you were a huge inspiration to me. I had the Nike poster of you coming around a turn with your four world recod times down in the corner hanging in my room. I was in awe then, and am not embarrased to say I still am today.

I wish you the very best luck in your quest. You, sir, were one of a kind.

I went to Henry's website and read his stories. The one about his best race - at Eugene,OR - was excellent. Just think, he ran intervals 5 days in a row and hill loops the day before the race during the week of the 10,000m in which he dueled Al Salazar to a 27:30 finish! Tinman

what ever happened to your WSU teammates, Josh Kimeto and Samson Kimowamba? they were really good, too. And the Kenyan great who preceded you at WSU, John Ngeno.

I can assure you all -- perhaps you know me from BRRC Boston -- this IS Henry Rono.

I have exchanged e-mails with my old friend and he remembers things only he could about living in Boston in the 80's and working at the Bill Rodgers store.

Welcome back, Henry!

Henry it is really great to see you back into running. I had a chance to see you compete in Edmonton in 1978. I also met you at Bloomsday in the mid 1980's. I was hanging out with BJ (Garry Bjorklund) after the race. It was quite a thrill to have met you. Good luck and all the best .
Cheers from Canada

Sarah/John,It seems like everybody are going wild and bizzare about my training comeback.I hope to be in good shape of under five minutes a mile in the category of 54 years old by January 2007.I told John this is the right time to comeback, after I finished my autobiography book.I was talking with Sarah and her husband John, laughing and exciting to be on letsrun.com and every one is going wild about running and age categories.

And when 5 different posters prove that Henry Rono is really Henry Rono, there will be another 10 who refuse to believe.
