Don't you wish you could? Not in this lifetime....

so true. he's a completely different runner with guys around him.
i can see him dropping some sick times in road races in the future. cranking out 10 milers/15ks/half marathons completely solo. then getting worked when he's got competition.
i wonder if it has anything to do with being homeschooled?
It all goes back to the theory that is continually being proven true.

What's your excuse for sucking, public schooling?

oh man that's pretty funny
I think he was around 1:55.x for the last 800, very good looking run.
This year will finally be Josh's break out track year. I call him for NCAA 10k champ!
p.s. I think the real reason he doesn't race well with competition is because he's stuck at Liberty all track season. It's basically home-schooling, those guys dont' get out very often to see the big boys race.

Yes..the people who dont think ho has any speed are finally proven wrong. What does this mean for Josh in the 5k?? 1325?
McDougal is the new Bob Kennedy, didn't think he was fast enough for track, but a 3.57 mile shows he doesn't need run the marathon just yet.
All that talent, which moron coaches to help him squander it when it counts. That said, even his idiot coaches won't be able to ruin him enough to keep him from being NCAA 10k champ this year.
combine that sort of speed with his formidable endurance, and the sky's the limit...

WTF are you talking about? Kennedy stepped up when it counted. McDougal only races fast when nobody else shows up.
3:57 is a good time, but WTF Josh? I don't understand this kid. He will dominate all season, run some really capable times, then suck it up at nationals. He did run pretty well indoors this year, but this guy is a national champ type. He should have at least one title by now. Hopefully he can finally put something together. However, he better be careful. 3:57 for the mile is awefully fast this early on. Has he ever heard of periodization?
McDougal is a Championship performer, and you cannot argue the results with his multiple Top 10 finishes at Championship races, all Conference, Regional, and National level races.
Many of you are underestimating the talents he has to contend with, the Chris Solinsky, Robert Cheseret, Galen Rupp, Lopez Lomongs of the world.
He is a great collegiate champion, there are just a great handful of better runners. Period.
He's not a champion. He hasn't won any national titles that I know of.

You can't call him a collegiate champion if he hasn't won a national title. But nonetheless, I never thought he had the talent to run 3:57 in college or after. I can't wait to see his next competitive 5K.
He went out in 2:01
