Be Inspired: Will Tarantino - Man With Incurable Brain Cancer Runs 2:29:30 and 2:26:09 LetsRun.com received the following email from Will Tarantino and thought we should share it with the LRC Community. Tarantino has an incurable form of brain cancer but since getting diagnosed has run a 2:29:30 marathon and a 2:26:08. Remarkable. He will be running the Flora London Marathon next week. We encourage you to read a great article on Tarantino competing at last year's Boston Marathon by clicking here: Also please check out his charity at: http://www.willpowerresearchfund.com. His email below speaks for itself. Brojos, Since I was diagnosed with a malignant brain
tumor two years ago my parents have established a charity to raise
awareness, as well as money to help fund research and treatment of this
incurable and increasingly common form of cancer. I am trying to use
my running ability to promote the charity. I have run three marathons
since my diagnosis. I placed 7th in the Big Sur Marathon (2007) three
months after surgery, running 2:45:04. I ran last years Boston
Marathon just after completing chemotherapy, finishing 49th in 2:29:30.
Finally, I ran last year's CIM in 2:26:08. I realize that these times
are not even in the same league as the type of runners usually
mentioned on your web-page and its (in)famous message board, and I
leave it to you to determine whether my achievements are notable enough
to deserve a mention on your website (I don't have a choice, do I?).
Either way, I wanted to contact you because your site is the ideal
place to attempt communication with the running community. The address of the charity is http://www.willpowerresearchfund.com.
It has just been put up, and some of the editing isn't complete yet,
but we are proud of it. I have also attached our first "newsletter"
and a copy of an article that appeared in the local paper last year
before I ran the Boston Marathon. Thank you for your attention, Will Tarantino
