Below are results from the 2009 Carlsbad 5000. On the women's side Aheza Kiros, a 2007 World Championship team member for Ethiopia with a pr of 15:09, got the win over Shannon Rowbury, who emerged as a star at 1500m for the US in 2008.
On the men's side Daba Bekana got the narrow win over Ethiopian compatriot Abreham Cherkos. Cherkos had run a blazing fast 13:07 indoors in Prague in February defeating Bekana who ran 13:21. Marc Davis' American record of 13:24 from 1996, will stand another year as American Anthony Famiglietti was sixth in 13:28.
