American Milers Club 2007 High Performance Series to Take Place after USA Nationals Press Release May 28, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) The Indiana Invaders will host the 2007 edition of the

American Milers Club High Performance Series immediately after the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships that will be held in Indianapolis on June 21-24. The series will be produced and managed by NFTL, Inc.

The American Milers Club High Performance Series, featuring three days of many of America's top middle distance athletes hitting the track with scores to settle from USA Nationals, is an outgrowth of meets hosted by the Indiana Invaders in 2004 to provide high performance competitive opportunities for middle distance athletes.

This year's series will also include a pre-national championship Last Chance qualifying opportunity on June 15th at the Big Red National Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.  This event takes place just one week before the 2007 U.S.A. Outdoor Nationals and is designed specifically for athletes in need of qualifying marks for the 2007 USA Outdoor National Championships.

The American Milers Club High Performance Series has an unmatched record in recent years of fast times and exciting competition by developing national class athletes. In 2006, the AMC series produced 41 season bests and 26 lifetime bests. Eight races were determined by 33/100ths of a second or less and four races were determined by margins of 6/100ths of a second or less. In 2005, there were several very competitive performances including two sub-3:38 performances in the 1500 and five sub-1:48 performances in the 800. In 2004, the series produced 43 Olympic Trials qualifying marks including some of the deepest 800 and 1500 meter races in the USA during the 2004 track and field season.

Support and commitment from many of America's best elite development teams and their coaches have created a series with strong interest that meets the needs of many top American middle distance athletes. Competition results are expected to impact the 2008 Olympic Trials qualifying list of athletes every day of competition.

The 2007 competition schedule will be focused on the 800 and 1500 with a limited number of possible added events on each of the different days of the series.

2007 High Performance Track & Field Series dates: June 25 Bloomington, Indiana June 27 Bloomington, Indiana June 30 Bloomington, Indiana

Series Director Greg Harger said, "The interest in this high performance series has grown significantly this year what with the window for Olympic Trials qualifying now being open. This high performance series will give athletes, at peak fitness, an opportunity to post qualifying marks for next year's Olympic Trials.  We're excited about the potential of this series and it's ability to provide high performance competition opportunities for America's top middle distance athletes." Harger added, "We're looking forward to growing this series and the prospects of making it a cornerstone of a larger high performance series of events on the 2008 domestic schedule."

The USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Indianapolis and take place June 21-24, 2007. The US Championships serve as the selection meet for the 2007 IAAF World Championships in Athletics, which will take place August 25 - September 2 in Osaka, Japan.
