Conditions ideal for a fast time appear to be on the forecast for Sunday, will the elite men and women go for a fast one?

No one has repeated in Chicago since Sammy Wanjiru in 2010 (the final race Wanjiru would ever run). Chumba is the best of a shallow men's elite field that also features two-time London champ Tsegaye Kebede and two-time world champ Abel Kirui looking to resurrect their careers.

Kimetto faces defending champ Dickson Chumba, 2012 champion Tsegaye Kebede, 2008 Olympic 10,000m bronze medalist Micah Kogo and Stephen Sambu making his marathon debut. Luke Puskedra, Nick Arciniaga and Diego Estrada head the American charge. World half-marathon record holder Florence Kiplagat leads the women's field against Boston champion Atsede Baysa and 2:23-women Valentine Kipketer and Gulume Chala.

Defending champion Stephen Sambu and 2-time winner Micah Kogo lead men's field that has Chris Derrick, Meb Keflezighi, Abdi Abdirahman, Sam Chelanga and Moses Kipsiro. The women are lead by Amy Cragg, Diane Nukuri, Sara Hall, Neely Spence Gracey and Alexi Pappas.

Kibet with a 58:54 half PR is the class of the field that also has Micah Kogo, Will Geoghegan, Christo Landry, Riley Masters, Aaron Braun, Maksim Korolev and Chris Solinsky. The women are lead by defending champ Gemma Steel, Emily Sisson, 5-time world xc medalist Meselech Melakamu, Diane Nukuri Alexi Pappas and Laura Thweatt. *Full Fields
*Ben True Pulls Out Of B2B With Fatigue From Standard USAs/Standard Chasing In Europe Many top Kenyans (including Patrick Maka and Emily Chebet) also pulled out of the race due to the sudden death of their agent, Zane Branson.

Half way into the race, Farah was dropped from the lead pack, but he hung tough and got the super-impressive win in 59:32 over Micah Kogo. Rose Chelimo won the women's race in 1:08:22.

Farah has said he's only going for the win, but the race is offering $100,000 for a world record and Zersenay Tadese set the current WR of 58:23 on this course in 2010. Kenya's Stephen Kibet (58:54 PR) and Ethiopia's Guye Adola (59:06 PR, bronze at '14 World Half Champs) could be tempted to push the pace with that sort of prize money.

Sambu made a big move at 4 miles and was all alone for the second half of this race as he rolled to a dominant victory in 31:46 for the 7-mile course. Saina and Steel were still together as they crested the final hill but Saina's track speed won out over the road specialist Steel as she won in 35:56 to Steel's 36:03. Molly Huddle was third in 36:15. Ben Bruce was 4th in the men's race.

The 17th annual Beach to Beacon 10k is Saturday morning in Maine and as usual the race boasts a stellar field. Defending champ Micah Kogo (26:35 track PB) will take on fellow Kenyans Bedan Karoki (26:52 on the track at Pre) and Patrick Makau (former marathon WR holder at 2:03:38), as well as 2014 Boston Marathon champ Meb Keflezighi and Maine native Ben True. On the women's side, Shalane Flanagan will attempt to become the first-ever American champ though she'll be challenged by 2:19 marathoner Aselefech Mergia, last year's runner up Gemma Steel and Jordan Hasay.

The ridiculously deep fields include 11 men who have gone under 60-minutes and 7-women who have ran under 68:00. Men's side includes Bernard Koech (58:41), Stanley Biwott (58:56), Chicago Marathon champ Dennis Kimetto, former Half-Marathon World champ Wilson Kiprop and  2011 10,000m World champ Ibrahim Jelian. On the women's side there is London/NYC Marathon champ Priscah Jeptoo, Boston champ Rita Jeptoo and former 10K World champ Linet Masai making her half debut.
