BYU freshman Jane Hedengren dominated the NCAA 5000 over the final stages, winning in 15:00.12 and closing the final kilometer in 2:46.24 to break the field and get her first NCAA title and victory over Alabama's Doris Lemngole.

Hedengren ran 18:42.3 to win Pre-Nats by 23 seconds and smash the course record at Gans Creek, which will host NCAAs on November 22. The BYU women (25 points) also dominated the team race while Grace Hartman and NC State (41 points) and Habtom Samuel and New Mexico (51 points) won the men's & women's races at Nuttycombe.

Jane Hedengren ran 8:40 for 3,000m in 2025 — a time that would have led the NCAA. But that wasn’t even her best race. Her solo 9:17.75 2-mile at Brooks PR was the crown jewel of a record-breaking season.

Jane Hedengren obliterated the high school 5000m record and went sub 15:00. That is something a collegian had never done until Parker Valby did it last school year.
