Kosgei ran 27:55 to beat out True by 1-second while Keitany won comfortably in 30:41 and Shalane Flanagan was the top American in 4th, with an identical 31:14 time as former Olympic champ Meseret Defar.

Ben True And Mary Keitany Face Super Deep Fields As They Return To Defend Their Titles At Beach To Beacon 10K True faces a deep field that includes Stephen Sambu, Tariku Bekele, Abdi Abdirahman, Cam Levins and Dan Huling while Keitany is up against Shalane Flanagan, Jordan Hasay, Meseret Defar, Joyce Chepkirui and Wude Ayalew.

True and Keitany were frustrated to be left off their respective Olympic teams and both athletes responded by earning historic wins in Cape Elizabeth, Maine on Saturday morning. True led a U.S. 1-2 as Dathan Ritzenhein (28:27) was second with sub-27:00 Kenyan William Malel Sitonik (28:31) third in his road race debut. With the Olympics still a week away, the best racing action of the week is in Maine, where several U.S. and international stars will gather for the 19th TD Beach to Beacon 10K. We caught up with Ritz (he's fit and possibly in road PR shape), Bekele (he's healthy), True and several others on Friday including Keitany, who said all the right things but was clearly still miffed that she won't be running the Olympic marathon.

Men's race also has Sam Chelanga, Abdi Abdirahman and Eric Jenkins while Keitany faces defending champ Wude Ayalew, Joyce Chepkirui, Aliphine Tuliamuk, Sara Hall and Jordan Hasay.

Jenkins wasn't content to end his season with a stroll as he was the only American man that tried to hang in the African lead pack. The battle in the women's race was very tight for both the win and top American honors. *Ben True Pulls Out Of B2B With Fatigue From Standard USAs/Standard Chasing In Europe Many top Kenyans (including Patrick Maka and Emily Chebet) also pulled out of the race due to the sudden death of their agent, Zane Branson.
