Schippers' 21.63 set a meet record and made her the third-fastest woman of all-time. Jamaica's Elaine Thompson ran 21.66 (#5 all-time) but had to settle for silver as 3 women broke 22.00 in the same race for just the second time ever. Eaton ran 45.00 for 400 during the decathlon (best-ever during a decathlon) and could challenge his WR on Saturday.

Oh baby, the final is going to be awesome.

24 women, 10 PRs and no Americans in the final. The three women's 800 semifinals were insane as Canada's Melissa Bishop led all the qualifiers in 1:57.52 (a two-second PR!). Americans Molly Ludlow and Brenda Martinez went home as the final time qualifier was a ridiculous 1:58.35.

Team USA has struggled at these championships but Thursday night went very well for the Americans as Taylor (triple jump) and Felix (400) earned the U.S.'s 2nd and 3rd golds of the championships in impressive fashion -- an 18.21 jump (#2 all-time) by Taylor and a 49.26-second run for Felix (PB). Justin Gatlin couldn't complete a perfect night, which is understandable as he once again lost to the incomparable Usain Bolt (19.55 to 19.74) and had to settle for silver.

Three men broke 44.00 for the first time in history as former world champs LaShawn Merritt (43.65 PB) and Kirani James (43.78) had to settle for silver and bronze. Cuba's Yarisley Silva won the pole vault in dramatic fashion, while Justin Gatlin (19.87) and Usain Bolt (19.95) cruised through the 200 semis to set up a thrilling final on Thursday.

Montaño went down with 200 to go in her heat and her protest was unsuccessful so she'll sit out the semis and final. Molly Ludlow was only sixth but her heat was by far the fastest on the day and she made it in on time (2:00.70) while Brenda Martinez had to work for it in the final 100 after being boxed in. Ben True comfortably grabbed an auto qualifier in heat 1 of the 5,000 while Ryan Hill and Galen Rupp made it on time in a much faster heat 2.

Like London 2012, Rudisha led wire-to-wire, but he came through 400 almost five seconds slower (54.17). He ran a big negative split (51.67 final 400) to win over Poland's Adam Kszczot in 1:45.86, while Amel Tuka earned Bosnia & Herzegovina's first-ever medal by taking the bronze. 

Should everyone just hand Mo Farah the gold medal now? Can Ryan Hill, Ben True or Galen Rupp make history and become the first American-born athlete ever to medal in the men's 5000?

Huddle had the bronze until the final step, when she slowed down to throw up her arms, allowing Infeld to sneak by on the inside. Ahead of them, Cheruiyot won her fourth global title with an impressive 60-second last lap as she kicked away from Ethiopia's Gelete Burka to win a slow race in 31:41.31. Overall, it was a fantastic race for the Americans (Shalane Flanagan was the other), as they went 3-4-6.

Emma Coburn, Stephanie Garcia and Colleen Quigley all advanced to Wednesday's final in the Bird's Nest after some quick qualifying heats. Coburn and Garcia both made it automatically, finishing third in their heats, while Quigley's 9:29 in heat 2 was enough to grab a time qualifier. Coburn will attempt to make some more history on Wednesday as she goes for the U.S.'s first-ever medal in the event.
