Really I'm writing about the Adidas Melbourne purchased in 1962 from Vandervoort's hardware store in Lansing Michigan. Had to send a check through the mail. Made from the finest baby kangaroo leather. Fit the foot like a glove. 3/4 inch spikes that gave a great grip on cinder tracks and threw lots of dirt on anyone trailing close to you and scraped their shins if they got any closer. Now 60 plus years old and a bit harder and stiffer. These shoes had almost no padding underneath. You had to depend entirely on the strength of the muscles and bones in the arches of your foot, but that was life in the fast lane in those days. They gave nothing back to you on your take off. A 25 seconds 220 yards was the real deal. Highly recommended if you want to walk like a gimp when you turn 80.
