Last year, Boise State’s Allie Ostrander had a phenomenal freshman cross country season as she won the adidas Wisconsin Invitational, the Mountain West title and the NCAA West Regional before finishing as the runner-up at the NCAA championships.
In track, her hot streak continued as she ran 8:54 for 3000 and 15:21 for 5000 indoors before she dropped out of NCAA indoor meet with an injury. She reappeared at the Olympic Trials, however, where she finished 8th in the women’s 5000 final as a 19-year-old in 15:24.
Unfortunately, the injury bug has come back to bite Ostrander, who hasn’t competed during the 2016 cross country season. We reached out to to the Sports Information Department at Boise State for an official statement on her status and they quickly provided it by writing, “Allie Ostrander is currently injured and will likely redshirt the cross country season.”
