Embedded below is a very interesting 10-minute video interview with Harry Marra, the coach of decathlon Olympic champ and world record holder Ashton Eaton as well as his wife, world silver medalist, Brianne Theisen-Eaton.

A lot of interesting backstory on Marra who says he’s been doing track and field since a kid when he pole vaulted over his mom’s closelines in the backyard. He focused on track full-time once he was cut from the high school basketball team.

Other interesting tidbits include that he was living in California and basically retired from coaching when he was asked by Vin Lananna to coach Ashton Eaton at Oregon. There’s also a brief somewhat awkward pronoun dialogue about Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner at 6:45 into the video.
