The 2014 LetsRun.com PreSeason* NCAA Cross Country Polls are out today and Mark Wetmore’s Colorado Buffaloes are a strong #1 on the men’s side over Stanford and Oregon. Mike McGuire’s Michigan Wolverines are a closer #1 on the women’s side over Michigan State and Oregon.
On the men’s side, Colorado is a dominant #1 in the LRC polls with Stanford #2 and Oregon #3, despite Oregon getting more 1st place votes than Stanford. The Cardinal have absolutely bombed the last two years at NCAAs, but the LRC faithful agree with our LRC men’s preview and put the Cardinal at #2 in the LRC Fan Polls. In the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, Northern Arizona is #2, but they are only #4 in the LRC Fan Polls, but very little separates #2-4.
On the women’s side, Michigan edges Michigan State and Oregon for the top spot. Rounding out the top 5 are Stanford and Georgetown. Those are your same top 5 in the coaches’ polls, although Oregon is #2 in the coaches’ poll, not Michigan State.
We brought out preseason conference voting for the first time and voting was a little thin. Don’t worry you’ll get another chance to vote in a month before all the conference action.
*Don’t think it’s preseason? NCAA meets prior to September 26th mean absolutely nothing in terms of NCAA qualification. The real season starts this weekend.
