“Things have been going well but you can’t take anything for granted in the marathon,” said Burla. “I think I’m doing well and am hoping it will all come together on race day.”

Burla, who trains in the Washington, DC area, refused to predict big things for herself because last year she felt good about her prospects until she ended up being sick on race day.

“I just like to take it one day at a time…I try to not think about it too much,” said Burla who spent some time training in Albuquerque this winter.
